Behavior Expectations:
The Physical Education Department expects you to respect each other, your teacher, the equipment, yourself, and the facilities. By choosing to be respectful, you will avoid consequences. You are expected to behave as a mature, young adult at all times.
REMEMBER: We want all of you to have a great time in PE, and with your help and cooperation, we will! Safety is very important in our subject area and we want you to think before you act in every aspect of school and life. Let’s have a great year!!!
Locker Room Expectations
Dressing Out
Each student is required to be dressed out every day in his/her PE Uniform (see below). Pants and Shorts must be worn at waist level. Failure to do so will result in the loss of points. Showers are available for use.
On cold days students may wear sweat pants/shirt over their uniforms.
Participation Students must be dressed out in the required P.E. uniform in order to gain their participation points. Students must be fully engaged in the activity of the day for the entire class period as instructed by their teacher in order to gain their points.
Tardies Students must be inside their designated locker room when the bell rings. A student will be assigned a detention if they are not inside the locker room when the bell rings.
P.E. Excuses
Students may be excused for an "illness" by obtaining a written note from their parent/guardian or physician. The note must include the following:
1. Date(s) absent
2. Reason and length of time excused from P. E. activity.
3. Contact number
When the student has a medical note excusing them from P. E. for a designated number of days, the student is responsible to do the following:

Grading: Grade in these classes will be based on active participation, skills test and written tests.

Locker Room Expectations
- Students will rent a lock for $2.00 per semester. If they lose or break the lock or don’t return the lock, they will be charged a $5.00 replacement fee.
- Students will be assigned a locker for their own personal belongings. (Sharing is not allowed or accepted—students caught sharing will be subject to disciplinary action)
- Students are expected to store all items of value (cell phone, money, jewelry, ipod, wallet, etc.) in their locked locker. Valuable items that are too large for lockers may be stored in the coach’s office. It is recommended that items of great value be left at home
- Body Sprays, Cologne, Perfumes, Glass Bottles, Hairsprays, and Spray Deodorants are hazardous to the health and well-being of peers, teachers, and the environment so please do not use them.
- Cameras and cell phones are not to be seen or used in the locker room. Such electronics have the capability to violate the privacy of others. Disciplinary action will occur should you choose to not respect each other.

- Our PE Uniform consists of:
- Navy blue EGHS physical education short.
- Gray EGHS physical education t-shirt. This shirt may not be altered in any way.
- Athletic Shoes (tied) and Socks – flip-flops, “flats” and “skate” shoes are not accepted.

- Show the physician's note to the P. E. Teacher
- Report to class each day for roll call, teacher may assign Inactive student worksheet, or homework for long-term excuse.
- After roll call has been taken, the student will receive instructions from the teacher for their alternative assignment.
General Guidelines:
- No gum or food, etc. is allowed in the school PE areas by students. This includes the locker rooms, gym, the tennis courts, track, and fields.
- No student is to be on football field area unless with your teacher. Disciplinary action will occur should you not follow this rule.
- No backpacks left out in locker room. Disciplinary action will occur should you not follow this rule. If something does not fit in your locker please see your teacher.
- It is the student’s responsibility to use the restroom in the locker rooms before or after dressing out, not during class time. (“ I didn’t have to go then” is not an excuse)
- Be present and on time to the locker room and your class’s assigned area.
- Vulgar/offensive language and harassing /bullying others are not allowed in class at any time. Disciplinary action will be taken towards students who choose to not respect their peers
- Students must stay in their designated activity area.
Attendance
- Students missing more than nine (9) days in a semester will not receive a passing grade except when: Court, Religious holidays and Doctors Notes
- Excused absences (parent’s notes and doctor notes) must be shown to the teacher within 48 hours of returning to class or they will lose points.
